Ludwig van Beethoven was a German composer and pianist, and one of the most recognized and influential composers in history. Although his career began in Germany, when he was 21 he moved to Vienna, and remained there until his death. By his late twenties, his hearing began to deteriorate, and towards the end of his life, he was almost completely deaf.
