During the Renaissance, there was a change in perspective as to the nature of human beings and their powers to cement morality, knowledge, and society based on human and humane categories as the means to secure these and not divine intervention. This came to be known, broadly, as humanism. This tendency paved the way for the birth of scientific reasoning based on observation, evidence and provable facts. Finally, during this time, the West rediscovered and adopted the values and ideas that fueled ancient Greek and Roman societies and thought.
