Why was george washington cautious in all he did as the nation's first president? laws he established as president were not reviewed by advisers, so there was no room for error. there was no vice president who could assume the role of president if something happened to him. he knew every action would create important standards and affect the future of the united states. many dignitaries wanted washington removed from office and were hoping he would make a mistake.
