Why did the british government take control of india? a. india was struggling to pay off its international loans, so britain paid the debt to gain control of india's coal. b. the indian people were fighting a war with the afghans, so the british entered to stop the fighting and then stayed to provide support to india. c. mughal rulers fought against the british government for control of the hindu kush region, but were defeated, thus giving britain control of the country. d. tensions became so high between the east india company and the indian people that britain took full control of the country.
