The profession that grew substantially with women's participation during civil war is NURSING.
During the civil war, the women folks who are used to stay indoor most of the time had to go out and work in order to earn and cater for their children since the men were at the war fronts. This situation led many women into different type of profession that were previously dominated by men. One particular profession that prospered tremendously during that period was nursing. That is because, women were needed to take care of those men of war that are injured on the war field.
