Why is “chinese republic” a misleading designation for the period between 1912 and 1949 in china?

Between 1912 and 1949 they had faced a series of Power grabbing with dynasties and nationalist strugsles with so much existing leaders in China it was a sedition or the dominant leader in each Struggle.
