What is the main difference between arbitration and mediation?

Mediation and arbitration achieve  similar end goal, giving a fair resolution to resolve the issues at hand, there are some major differences:

1. A major difference between arbitration and mediation is that in arbitration the arbitrator  makes a decision base on evidence available. Arbitration is similar the court trial as parties gives testimony and provide evidence although it is generally less formal. In mediation, the process involves negotiation with the support of a neutral party and conclusion is not reached until all parties agree.

2. Mediators can't issue orders, or find fault. Instead, mediators' job is to   help each party to agree to a settlement by helping with communications, making relevant deductions, and presenting pertinent information. most people prefer mediation to arbitration because there opinions are considered to arrive at a resolution.
