Zhang Min just got a job at the local grocery store stacking shelves. The role requires Zhang Min to be on her feet for long periods of time, and to do some moderate lifting and reaching to stack the shelves. Before Zhang Min can start working she must complete a store induction with the owner of the store, Johnny. Zhang Min’s first shift starts at 9:30 am on Monday morning. Zhang Min arrives a little early as she wants to make a good first impression on Johnny. Zhang Min waits outside the store for Johnny to arrive.

At 9.45 am, Zhang Min is worried as Johnny has not arrived yet. Zhang Min decides to call Johnny to see where he is. Johnny answers the phone immediately explaining to Zhang Min that he had a late night and had slept in by mistake. Johnny tells Zhang Min that he will be there in 30 minutes and for her to open the store.

Johnny sends Zhang Min a message with an access code to get inside the store. Johnny tells Zhang Min that the cash register is very easy to use and there will not be many customers that early. Zhang Min uses the code to get into the store. Zhang Min is a little nervous as she opens the store. Zhang Min walks up and down the aisles of the store trying to remember what food was in each aisle in case a customer needs any help.

Zhang Min is a little shocked when she notices that the store is not very tidy. There are opened boxes and trollies left in the middle of the store. Some of the boxes are piled so high that they are taller than Zhang Min.

Finally, at 10:15 am Johnny arrives. Johnny enters through the door of the store slamming the door behind. The loud sound of the door closing gives a customer, Li Wei, a fright and Li Wei quickly turns around tripping on one of the boxes left in the middle of the store. Li Wei crashes into the tall tower of boxes causing them all to fall on him.

Li Wei was knocked unconscious and rushed to hospital in an ambulance. As a result of the accident Li Wei suffers a head and back injury. His medical expenses come to a total of $15,000 as he required surgery and rehabilitation. Li Wei spends two months in hospital recovering from the injuries.
