3. Dennis and Francis Burnham were married in 1976 in West Virginia. In 1977, the couple moved to New Jersey where their two children were born. In July, 1987, the Burnhams separated. Mrs. Burnham moved to California, established residency, and filed for divorce. In January, 1988, Mr. Burnham visited California on a business trip. He also visited his children who were living with Mrs. Burnham. When he returned the children home, he was served with a summons and a copy of the divorce petition. He then returned to New Jersey. Mr. Burnham alleged that the California courts did not have personal jurisdiction over him as a New Jersey resident. Is the service of process good
