Why is constitutional law an area for debate? There is a push and pull between the power of state governments and that of the federal government.
Some individuals believe that everyone must adhere to the decisions of the Supreme Court and others believe that Supreme Court decisions are open to interpretation.
The federal government is divided into three branches and they do not always agree with each other.
Some individuals believe the U. S. Constitution should be adhered to literally and others believe the provisions in the document are open to interpretation.
The Supreme Court interprets the laws and sometimes the justices decide that a law is unconstitutional.
