There are 14 blue marbles 8 red marbles and 12 green marbles in a jar. what is the ratio of the total number of the red marbles

Red:Blue:Green
4    :    7  :  6

First, I am going to add 14+8+12 to get the total amount of marbles I have, so 14+8+12=34 so there are a total of 34 marbles.
I know that there are 8 red marbles, so my ratio is:
   8 red marbles:34 total marbles
it can also be like this: 8/24
