Given certain information, what is the value of x4-y4? got a question off of brilliant that is boggling my mind for some reason. anyone got some insight?

Well right off the bat, I can see a good reason why it should boggle.

If (x+y)=6 and (x-y)=2, then (x+y)(x-y) would be 12. It can't be 20.

The first 4 lines on the paper are inconsistent, so the question in the 5th line can't be calculated.

Another possible source of uncertainty (for us, anyway) is the remarkable similarity between the way you write ' Y ' and the way you write ' 4 ' . For example, look at the ' Y⁴ ' (I think ...) in the last line.

to plot points   for x just start at the origin (middle) and go to the left however many times it say(if the number is a positive) if the number is a negative then go right however many times it says if it is 0 go nowhere

now keep you pencil there and go up however many times it says on y(if it is positive) if it is negative then go down however many times it says. if it says 0 go nowhere.

you have just plotted a point! now when you finish plotting all of them connect them with a ruler

plot each point as (-3, 7), (0,4), (3,1), (8,-4)   in the parenthesis on the left of the comma is x and the right is y.

your answer would be 12
