Except... B. opening checking accounts.

All of the other options are valid strategies for retirement savings which will yield potentially high rates of return.  There is also penalties for early withdrawal from these type of accounts, and tax benefits to contributing to them. A checking account gives almost no return and is accessible to make any withdrawal at any time without penalty therefore is not a valid form of retirement savings strategy.
