divide by -8

j = 2.25

substitute into

2j+6a = 24

2(2.25) +6a =24

4.50 +6a =24

subtract 4.5 from each side

6a = 19.50

divide by 6

a = 3.25

jelly beans are 2.25 per pound

almonds are 3.25 per pound
