Okay... so in this problem, the three people are splitting the money into 9 parts. Simply add the numbers in the ratio to find how many parts they are splitting their money into. Now, divide 1080 by 9... 120.
Now you can look back at the ratio. Ashley had 1 part, so he had 1x120, or just $120, Jake had 3 parts, so 3x120 = $360, and Angelina had 5 parts, so 5x120 = $600. 
To check, we'll add up those numbers. 120+360+600= $1080! Congrats!
