15. a familiar feud
prosecutor harry hatfield of pettyville has some unpleasant business to attend to. he
is trying to convince a grand jury to indict his cousin, mayor munro mccoy, on five
different offenses. despite the fact that the amounts of money the mayor allegedly
pocketed were rather small (the largest being $100), prosecutor hatfield feels that all
violations must be dealt with harshly. each alleged offense took place in a different
month (from january through may, inclusive). discover, for each month, the mayor's
alleged offense and the amount of money he supposedly made.
1. mayor mccoy allegedly took a bribe two months before he
allegedly committed a crime that earned him $75.
2. he allegedly embezzled money from the municipal treasury
the month after he allegedly made $25.
3. the mayor allegedly made off with $45 in april.
