Jane has rolled a fair die 7 times and each time has gotten a 3. she says that the probability that she will get a 3 on the next roll is high (close to 1). is she correct?
a) no, the probability of getting a 3 on a fair die does not change. it will always be 1/6
no matter what she got on the previous roll.
b) yes, since she has gotten a 3 on the last 7 rolls, the probability of getting a 3 is higher on the next roll.
c) no, the probability of getting a 3 will be slightly higher than any other number but not close to 1.
d) there is no way to tell until she rolls the die. you cannot accurately predict what she will get.
