Scientists in the jungle want to find the best estimate for the lion population. They tagged (marked) and released 20 lions as part of a research project. Later, they found 160 lions, 8 of which were tagged (marked). β€Œ Find the best estimate of the total population of lions: β€Œ Step 1: Set up an equivalent proportion where "X" is the unknown total lion population. Step 2: Cross Multiply and set two equivalent equations. Step 3: Solve for "X" by dividing both sides by the number associated with "X" (Inverse operations) to find the total lion population. β€Œ Hint: For every 8 tagged lions in the sample, there are 160 lions in the population. β€Œ How many lions are there in the population if there are 20 marked lions in the sample?
