Ten years ago, African elephants were on the verge of extinction. Now, thanks to the work of the National Animal Coalition, there are 286 African elephants and this species’ population is beginning to grow. With the population increasing at a rate of 1% each year, African elephants may someday be able to move off the endangered species list.
