A firm manufactures electronic equipment. Total production time per unit is the sum of the time it takes to assemble the item (assembly time), and how long it takes to inspect the item and package it (packing time).

Assembly time is a uniform random variable (X) ranging from 20 minutes to 40 minutes, and packing time is a uniform random variable (Y) ranging from 5 minutes to 15 minutes.

Assume that assembly time and packing time are independent.

a. The probability packing time for a unit will be less than 10 minutes is THREE DECIMALS. TH

b. The probability that assembly time will be less than 30 minutes and packing time will be less than 10 minutes is FOUR DECIMALS

c. The probability that assembly time will be greater than 30 minutes and packing time will be greater than 10 minutes is FOUR DECIMALS

d. The production line must pause whenever total production time is more than 45 minutes. When the firm produces a unit, the probability this will happen (the probability total production time will be more than 45 minutes) is FOUR DECIMALS.

An oil exploration company currently has two active projects, one in asia and the other in europe. let a be the event that the asian project is successful and b be the event that the european project is successful. suppose that a and b are independent events with p(a) = 0.2 and p(b) = 0.8. (a) if the asian project is not successful, what is the probability that the european project is also not successful? (b) what is the probability that at least one of the two projects will be successful? (c) given that at least one of the two projects is successful, what is the probability that only the asian project is successful? (round your answer to three decimal places.)
