A regression analysis can be run on any set of data points. In this unit, we're looking at simple linear regression analysis involving two hypothetically related variables. The meaning and interpretation of our regression analysis in our engineering will be based on whether or not we find a meaningful relationship between the two variables being studied.

Define the coefficient of determination and discuss the impact you would expect it to have on your engineering decision-making based on whether it has a high or low value. What do high and low values tell you? What types of actions would you expect to take after running a regression analysis on variables important to your engineering project based on the value of this coefficient?
