For the general population males 6 feet tall weigh an average of 184 pounds. A researcher’s claim is that men in an anti-smoking program will gain weight. To test this claim a sample of 6 feet tall men who are in the program are to be selected. Assume the mean weight of 6 feet tall men in this program is actually 194 pounds, σ = 18 pounds, and that the data are normally distributed. The study will test significance at the 0.01 level.
