In pool, the angle that a ball hits into a side wall (known as angle of incidence) is exactly the same as the angle it leaves from that point on the wall (known as angle of reflection) as shown in the first example with matching 60 degree angles when it hits the top wall (as long as the ball is hit with no side spin).
In the second diagram, both balls are 15 inches from the top wall. Ball 1 will travel 24 inches horizontally before making its first bounce off the top wall. If ball 2 is 5 inches from the sidewall and ball 1 is hit so that it has no side spin, how far will ball 1 travel before it hits ball 2 (as shown by the dashed line)?
