FAOSTAT, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, collects information on the production and consumption of more than 200 food and agricultural products for many countries around the world. This Excel file shows the meat consumption (per capita in kilograms per year) and alcohol consumption (per capita in gallons per year) for several countries.

The United States leads in meat consumption with 123 kilograms while Ireland consumes the most alcohol with 70.69 gallons.

Question 3. Calculate each country's z-score for alcohol consumption as follows:

In cell G3 calculate the mean alcohol consumption by typing =AVERAGE(B3:B128), then press Enter.

In cell G4 calculate the standard deviation of alcohol consumption by typing =STDEV(B3:B128), then press Enter.

In cell D3 calculate Albania's z-score for alcohol consumption by typing =(B3-$G$3)/$G$4, then press Enter. $G$3 and $G$4 are absolute cell addresses that do not change when the formula is copied.

Click on cell D3. Point your mouse to the small black box in the lower right corner of cell D3 and double-click. The alcohol z-scores for the remaining countries will be calculated in column D.

What is the sum of the z-scores? Round your answer to the nearest integer. (Calculate the sum of the z-scores by typing =SUM(D3:D128) in an empty cell, then press Enter. The value of the answer is not a coincidence; the sum of the z-scores is this value for any data set).

Question 4. If meat consumption is expressed in pounds instead of kilograms, what is the z-score for United States meat consumption? (1 kilogram = 2.2 pounds)
