Mr. Mayo runs a sandwich stand for the ABC Sandwich Company. The company pays Mr. Mayo $60 per day plus $2 for each sandwich he sells during the week. The company pays Mr. Mayo $75 per day plus $4 for each sandwich he sells at the weekend. On Thursday, Mr. Mayo made $150 selling sandwiches. On Saturday, Mr. Mayo made $283 selling sandwiches. His pay on Thursday can be represented by the following equation, where ā€˜Sā€™ represents the number of sandwiches. 2S + 60 = 150 a. How many sandwiches did Mr. Mayo sell on Thursday?

b. Write an equation for Saturday, using ā€˜Sā€™ to represent the number of sandwiches.

c. Mr. Mayo sets a goal for himself for Sunday to make more than $375. Write an inequality to represent this situation, using ā€˜Sā€™ to represent the number of sandwiches he must sell in order to achieve this.

d. Solve the inequality you wrote in part c., for S, to find out how many Sandwiches he must sell in order to reach his goal. Explain your answer in words. e. Mr. Mayo comes home from work on Monday, and claims to his wife that he did not earn any money today. Is it possible that Mr. Mayo is telling the truth? Explain your answer in words.
