   0+3x=2.05

divide both sides by 3 we have

x=2.05/3

x=0.68 pound

put x=0.68 in eqn 1 we have

0.68+y=1.6

y=1.6-0.68

y=0.91 pounds

Alicia gets $2.50*0.91= $2.275

Sarah gets  $5.50 *0.68=$3.74
