Kiran is 24 years older than Rakesh. 10 years back Kiran’s age was five times the age of Rakesh. Find their ages.

The age of Rakesh = 18

   The age of Kiran = 42

Let  

The age of Rakesh = x

The age of Kiran     = 24 + x

10 years back:

Age of Rakesh = x - 10

Age of Kiran     = 24 + x -10

⇒ x + 24 + x = 5 [ 14 + x ]  

⇒ 2x + 24     = 70 + 5x

⇒ 3x = 46

⇒ x = 18
