so if dads truck holds 16 gallons and we are finding 25% more that, we need to find what 25% of 16 is. 25% is a total of 1/4 and 1/4 of 16 is 4. now we add 4 to 16 to get 20.  

20% is converted into 1/5   so 1/5 of 35 is 7. now we add 7 to 35 to get 42
