Given a graph of a function, explain how to find the rate of change and how to determine whether it is a linear or nonlinear function. I KNOW THE ANSWER, I JUST WANTED TO HELP PEOPLE. :) Answer down here In order to identify a linear equation, you add up the output (left side) of the graphs numbers to see if the numbers are constant..if the numbers are the same for example..
1l0
2l5
3l10
those numbers are linear because they each add up to +5 each time.
To identify a non-linear equation... you do the same thing but if the numbers of when adding up aren't the same, then that's how you know it isn't a linear equation..for example..
1l0
2l6
3l8
the first time you added 6, but then you add up 2, so that is how you know the difference between a linear equation and a non-linear equation.
