Evaluate Vincent’s proportion to determine if it is correct. Explain your reasoning.

Vincent’s proportion is incorrect. His corresponding parts are not in the same position. The heights and bases are in different positions.

This proportion is not correct because the two parts in the top (numerator)need to either both say base, or both say height.

If both tops said base, then both originals would be on the left, and both reductions would be on the right.

The way to look at this would be to make sure both units on the top, on the left, AND on the right had a similarity.

EXAMPLE:

Base original/base reduction and height original/height reduction

Or

Base original/height original and base reduction/height reduction
