How do you do this I don’t understand

What is the best way to answer questions with a x expression in the question. for example 3x + 10x=?

How do i start to solve? would appreciate a walk-thru! a bird sitting 16ft above the ground in an apple tree dislodges an apple. after how many seconds does the apple land on the ground? (assuming that no branches will interfere with it's fall)

When solving this problem: 3025/5.5 = a/90.75 you get 49912.5 which would be the length of one of the sides of a square when the area is only 90.75 inches. is that answer correct, why, and how is it possible?
