1. A study on the effects of different reward systems on teamwork was recently published. This study used an experimental design and randomly placed teams in three different
types of reward systems. In the “Individual-based Rewards" condition, the manager
distributed rewards (monetary) to each team member separately for his or her individual
contributions. In the “Team-based Rewards" condition, the manager rewarded the entire
team, splitting the total reward evenly. In the “Combinatory Rewards” condition, the
manager rewarded the entire team, but the team was also allowed to distribute a portion
among themselves in any way. After hearing about how they will be rewarded, the teams
worked together on a task and an expert rated teamwork behaviors. A table of the mean
teamwork ratings for each condition is displayed below. [25 points total]
