There is a castle with a million dollars for anyone who can get to it first. The castle is surrounded by a moat that is square (4 equal sides) and the moat is 12ft wide at all areas. You have two 10' wooden planks, but no nails, rope, clothing or any other materials or means to put the planks together. Also, you cannot toss one to the other side, and lay one in on the shoreline and walk down into the moat and back up to the other side. think of the moat as charged with a bazillion volts of electricity.
