Santa Fe was then called "the different city." That was its advertising slogan. Chamber of Commerce was developed in New Mexico, and it was their job to promote tourism. And this also added to increased tourism. It created a sort of romantic view of New Mexico. A little bit more on tourism. 1932, the Chamber of Commerce created a booklet, and they published 22,000 of them. This booklet that you see is actually the 1932 version. And you'll notice that it's from the Automobile Club of Southern California. There was cooperation all along Route 66. All of the states cooperated on their tourism. There were a couple of organizations formed. One was called Good Roads, and another one was Highway 66. These organizations also intended to promote tourism along Route 66. And there was a lot of cooperation between the states. These advertising agencies sprung up that were dedicated only to Route 66 and developing the tourist route. They wanted people to travel the entire length of Route 66 and see the USA.
