Read the paragraph.
Conservation alone will not solve the energy crisis. Even if changes that allow us to use less energy are made, the dwindling supplies and
rising costs of oil and natural gas will still require a substitute energy source in the long run. The possibility of avoiding the dirtler, more dangerous
substitutes depends on the possibility of developing cleaner, safer ones.
If the paragraph is correct, what will probably happen in the future if cleaner, safer, and renewable energy sources are not developed?
1. Oil and gas will continue to be used at current quantities and prices.
2. Conservation will be mandatory and will eventually solve the energy crisis.
3. Dirtier, more dangerous energy substitutes will be developed.
4. Energy will no longer be developed.
