1. |b/5|=1 take the equation out of the absolute value
b/5=1
*5 *5 multiply both sides by 5

b=5

2. 2-5|5m-5|=-73 get rid of what's outside the absolute value first
-2 -2 subtract 2 from both sides

-5|5m-5|=-75
÷-5 ÷-5 divide both sides by -5

|5m-5|=15 take the equation out of the absolute value
5m-5=15
+5 +5 add 5 to both sides

5m=20
÷5 ÷5 divide both sides by 5

m=4

3. |7p+4|/8=3
*8 *8 multiply by 8

|7p+4|=25 take out the equation
7p+4=25
-4 -4 subtract 4

7p=20
÷7 ÷7 divide by 7

p=20/7

4. 5-8|-2n|=-80
+5 +5 add 5

-8|-2n|=-80
÷-8 ÷-8 divide by -8

|-2n|=10 take out equation
-2n=10
÷-2 ÷-2 divide by -2

n=-5
