And the solution is [- b +/- √[b^2 - 4ac] ] / 2a = -b / 2a

- 1 / [2 (1/4)] = -2

b) x^2 + kx + 1 = 0

b^2 -4(a)(c) = k^2 -4(1)(1) = k^2 - 4 = 0 => k^2 = 4

k = +/- 2
