I need this badly. A company that sells glassware has two manufacturing plants. In a quality control inspection of a random sample of 150 pieces of glassware from plant A, 8% of the pieces had a defect. In a random sample of 200 pieces from plant B, 6% of the pieces had a defect.

(a) Construct and interpret a 99% confidence interval for the true difference in the proportion of pieces from plant A that are defective and the proportion of pieces from plant B that are defective.

(b) Based on this confidence interval, is there convincing evidence that the true proportion of pieces from plant A that are defective is different from the true proportion of pieces from plant B that are defective? Explain.

An automobile assembly line operation has a scheduled mean completion time, μ, of 12 minutes. the standard deviation of completion times is 1.6 minutes. it is claimed that, under new management, the mean completion time has decreased. to test this claim, a random sample of 33 completion times under new management was taken. the sample had a mean of 11.2 minutes. assume that the population is normally distributed. can we support, at the 0.05 level of significance, the claim that the mean completion time has decreased under new management? assume that the standard deviation of completion times has not changed.
