Alright, if we take the first equation and rearrange it, we get:
x = -(24+10y)/8
when we rearrange the second one, we get:
x = (2-5y)/6

When we subtract both of these equations, we get:
x - x = 0
-(24+10y)/8 - (2-5y)/6 = -(72+30y)/24 - (8-20y)/24 = (-80-50y)/24
(-40-25y)/12

So, -25y-40 = 0
y = -1.6

Now, we substitute y back in to either of the 2 original equations, to get:
6x + 5(-1/6) = 2
6x - 8 = 2
6x = 10
x = 5/3
