An algorithm for dividing decimals states you cannot have a decimal point in the divisor. to remove the decimal, multiply both factors by a factor of 10. for example, 26 ÷ 1.3 becomes 260 ÷ 13 = 20. 20 is also the solution for 26 ÷ 1.3.
