there's two ways you can do it 
you can put them in a calculator or you can group them

all you do is take 16 and divide it by 1/4 which gives you 4 and take 16 and subtract by 4 which equals 12

They don't say how many muffins Wayne made so we have to use information from the beginning. There were 87 muffins total so we need to add up the total number of muffins made by the other kids (16+15+18+18=67) and then subtract that from 87 (87-67=20)
