When answering word problems, be careful of the information you don't need. In this case, it's not important to know that the bus pass was originally worth $30. We only need to know how many rides he took and how much he paid for all of those rides total. 

If he rode 12 times and the total cost was $24, that means that you could divide 24 by 12 to get the amount per ride:

$24 ÷ 12 = $2

Each ride cost $2 each. $2 will be your answer.

No he does not because he can only cover 12 square feet from 15 square feet which he will still need 3 more. this is because if 3×5=15 square feet and 15-12=3 which thats the answer
