Who spends the most and least amount of time on homework? Select one of the dot plots (A, B, or C) and determine the mean, median, mode and range of the data set (Measures of Central Tendency). You only have to complete one of A, B or C.

Example: Number of Minutes Spend on Homework Each Night

12 12 12 13 14 15 15 16 16 16 16 16 16 18 18 19 19 19 20 22

Mean (Average): The sum of the data set divided by the number of values in the set.
MEAN: (324) / 20 = 16.2 Minutes

Median (1/2 way point: splits data set in 1/2). Count from both sides towards the middle of the data set
MEDIAN: 16 (Since there are 20 values the median is located between the 3rd and 4th 16s (i. e. 16 16 16 (16) 16 16 16

Mode: (Most frequently occurring value)
MODE: 16 Minutes

Range: Difference in the highest and lowest values (High Value - Low Value)
RANGE: (22 - 12) = 10 Minutes
