A professor wants to determine whether college algebra should be kept as a prerequisite for the course entitled Introductory Psychological Statistics. Accordingly, some students are allowed to register for the course on a pass-fail basis regardless of whether they have had the prerequisite. Of the 70 students in the class, 40 have had algebra and 30 have not. At the end of the semester, the professor compares the number of students passing or failing the course with whether they had algebra. The results are summarized in the table. Pass Fail
