If we take a as -2

-5 = 4*-2 + b

-5 = -8 + b

b = -5 - (-8)

b = -5 + 8

b = 3

so... a = -2 and b = 3

6. (i) y = 5x - 2

(1,7)

y = 7 & x = 1

7 = 5*1 -2

7 = 5 - 2

7 = 3

so this point (1,7) is wrong

(ii) y = 5x -2

we can take any value for x...

e.g. x = 2

y = 5*2 - 2

y = 10 -2

y = 8

SO answer in this case would be (2,8)
