The Whoville Urn of Destiny (WUD) contains millions of marbles of many colors. By tradition (and royal decree), the proportion of green marbles in the urn is meant to be 83%, but Cindy Lou Who (CLW) suspects that certain pranksters have been adding green marbles to the WUD, and that the proportion of green marbles is in fact higher than 83%. To test her belief, CLW draws a simple random sample of 8000 marbles from the MUP and finds that 6696 of them are green.
Use CLW's data to test her belief, at the 5% significance level, using the following steps.
(1 pt) State the hypotheses for the test in terms of the appropriate parameter.
(2 pts) Find the value of the test statistic for the test.
(1 pt) Find the p-value of the test.
(1 pt) State your decision.
