Step 1: Set it to be “y=“
y=1/2 x - 1

Step 2: Swap x and y:
x = 1/2 y - 1

Step 3: solve for y by adding 1 and then multiplying by 2:

2x+2 = y

Step 4: flip it so it’s y= and then put in inverse function notation:
y = 2x + 2
