Jamie and Robert are both working this area puzzle. Jamie says: "I think the product must be (x+1)(x+7)
because the only numbers that multiply to make 7 in
the lower right corner would be 1 and 7. So the sum
would be x2 + 8x + 7"
Robert says: "I think that is one possible answer, but I
think there is actually another way to multiply to get a
7... what if we used two negative numbers? I think that
would still work, but give a different answer."
Who do you think is right?
