The loser picks himself off the dirt, wipes some blood on his shirt, and against his better judgement, immediately challenges the winner to a 1000-meter horseback race.
The winner, feeling the love from the crowd and slightly cocky, claims that he could
beat the loser while giving him a 100-meter head start. Not to be dissuaded, the loser
takes him up on the offer and along with the energetic crowd, the knights travel to a
nearby field and set up. The winner of the joust travels at a constant rate of one meter
per second faster than the loser. Surprisingly, they finish at the exact same time and a
tie is declared. How fast were both of the racers going? How long did the race take?
