1. Edgar measures the temperature of a solution at the beginning of an experiment to be 23°F . He monitors the temperature of the solution every minute for 10 minutes. He records the change in temperature from his
previous reading. His data show a decrease of 2°F four times, a decrease of 3°F three times, no
temperature change two times, and an increase of 6°F once.
(a) Write an expression that represents the average change in temperature each minute.
(b) Edgar repeats the experiment and finds the average change in temperature each minute is 1°F
greater in the second trial than in the first trial. What is the average change in temperature each
minute in the second trial of the experiment? Show your work.
